Brockweir & Hewelsfield Village Shop Association
Community Recycling Day acts as a collective action for Greener Together team at Brockweir
There were a number of different activities on offer during the event. They included:
• A compost demonstration
• A talk on waste and energy saving in the home
• Fabric recycling workshops making rag rugs and knitting with fabric
• Children’s activities, such as making bird feeders from juice cartons and watering cans
• Making logs from newspaper
• A clothes swap
• Scarecrow making
Free pizzas made in the shop were offered to satiate the hunger of those taking part.
The group also confirmed that it was the Greener Together project that gave them the impetus to hold the event. “We would never have thought of a community recycling day... but everyone enjoyed themselves and we all felt we really could be ‘greener together’.
